What causes infertility?

Infertility affects both men and women at 40% each, whereas in the remaining 20%, the causes remain unidentifiable. A number of couples have both male and female causes. The causes that effect females include blockage and diseases of the fallopian tubes, endometriosis, and defects in ovulation like polycystic ovarian diseases or PCO. Amongst men, infertility is basically causes by reduction in either/both the quantity and quality of sperm.

What is In-Vitro Fertilization or IVF ?

In its most basic form, IVF India is a procedure in which eggs are collected from the female’s ovaries and are then mixed with her male partner’s sperm within a test tube. The objective of doing so is to allow one sperm to enter one egg and both would combine to produce an embryo. A maximum of three embryos are then placed back inside the uterus for implantation to take place. The procedure is recommended for couples who are having trouble conceiving in the natural way, or when other treatments have failed.

What sorts of infertility treatments are available at Umeed IVF?

Are there any complications that are causes by treatment through IVF?

The major complication is IVF might lead to is OHSS or ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Another complication is related to having multiple pregnancies, which involves more than twins, such as triplets. Ectopic pregnancy might also occur. However, these complications are fairly rate.

What will happen at the first appointment?

Make sure that you bring together all the previous tests that both you and your husband have been through, so that out fertility specialists can analyze your past treatments and menstrual history before examining both you and your husband. A provisional diagnosis will be made and additional tests would be offered based on the findings that we obtain.

What would happen at egg collection?

You would be asked to not have food or water for about six hours prior to the procedure. You will then pass urine and our specialists will give you a short general anesthesia for less than 15 minutes. A thin needle would then be inserted under a vaginal probe ultrasound that would be scanning within the ovarian follicles to retrieve eggs. Once the procedure is done, you would be discharged after 3-5 hours.

Do I need to be on bed rest after embryo transfer?

Any differences in the chances of a successful pregnancy have not appeared as such whether the patient takes bed rest or not. You would just be asked to lie down for about 10 minutes once the procedure is carried out. However, make sure that you do not take part in activities that are strenuous.

How soon can I find out if I am pregnant?

Your pregnancy can be confirmed through a blood test in nearly 13 days time once the embryo has been transferred. However, for an ultrasound confirmation, you would have to wait for around 30 to 40 days after the procedure


Duration of Stay for IVF treatment
